Again the saying: \u00ab\u00a0Though the wise man wants to persuade the fool, he is not necessarily listened to.\u00a0\u00bb Such was the case of King W\u00ean&rsquo;s <span class=\"s2\">10<\/span> persuading Chow. <span class=\"s2\">11<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Thus, just as King W\u00ean attempted to persuade Chow and was put in jail, <span class=\"s2\">12<\/span> Marquis Ih <span class=\"s2\">13<\/span> was broiled; Marquis Chiu&rsquo;s <span class=\"s2\">14<\/span> corpse was dried; Pi-kan <span class=\"s2\">15<\/span> had his heart cut open; and Earl Mei&rsquo;s corpse was pickled. <span class=\"s2\">16<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Furthermore, I-wu was bound with chains. Ts`ao Ch`i <span class=\"s2\">17<\/span> absconded to Ch`\u00ean. Pai-li Tz\u016d <span class=\"s2\">18<\/span> begged on his way to the capital of Ch`in. Fu Y\u00fceh <span class=\"s2\">19<\/span> was sold into slavery from place to place. Sun Tz\u016d <span class=\"s2\">20<\/span> had his feet cut off in Wey. Wu Ch`i <span class=\"s2\">21<\/span> wiped off his tears at Dike Gate, lamented over the impending cession of the Western River Districts to Ch`in, and was dismembered in Ch`u. Kung-shu Tso <span class=\"s2\">22<\/span> spoke of a man fit to be a pillar of the state but was regarded as unreasonable, so that Kung-sun Yang <span class=\"s2\">23<\/span> absconded to Ch`in. Kuan Lung-p`\u00eang <span class=\"s2\">24<\/span> was executed. Ch`ang Hung <span class=\"s2\">25<\/span> had his intestines chopped into pieces. Yin Tz\u016d <span class=\"s2\">26<\/span> was thrown into a trap among brambles. The Minister of War, Tz\u016d-ch`i, <span class=\"s2\">27<\/span> was killed and his corpse was floated on the Yang-Tz\u016d River. T`ien Ming <span class=\"s2\">28<\/span>was stoned <span class=\"s2\">29<\/span> to death. Mi Tz\u016d-chien <span class=\"s2\">30<\/span> and Hsi-m\u00ean Pao <span class=\"s2\">31<\/span> quarrelled with nobody but were killed. Tung An-y\u00fc <span class=\"s2\">32<\/span> was killed and his corpse was exposed in the market-place. Tsai Y\u00fc <span class=\"s2\">33<\/span> had to suffer the disaster caused by T`ien Ch`ang. <span class=\"s2\">34<\/span> Fan Ch\u00fc <span class=\"s2\">35<\/span> had his ribs broken in Wey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">These tens of men <span class=\"s2\">36<\/span> were all benevolent, worthy, loyal, and upright persons in the world and followers of the right way and true path of life.
