1. <\/strong>In Cicero\u2019s Topica<\/em>, the argument a repugnantibus<\/em> is based on logically \u201ccontradictory\u201d things <\/span>(Cicero, Top<\/em>, XII, 53; p. 420).
\nIn her translation of Boethius, Stump translates a repugnantibus<\/em> as \u201cfrom incompatible [things]\u201d (Boethius Top.<\/em> p. 64), see contradiction<\/span><\/a>; opposites<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The argument a repugnantibus<\/em> is based on contradiction, whereas the argument ad incommodum<\/span><\/em><\/a><\/span> involves consequences that are subjectively unacceptable to the speaker<\/span>, either from a material or a moral point of view, see pragmatic argument<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
