Before using an analogy, you must first show that there is such a an analogy<\/p>\n<p>The notions of analogy, authority, causality, and definition appear, by one name or another, in all collections of arguments.<\/p>\n<p>These concepts fall into two types of argumentations.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>First step,<\/strong> <\/span>it must be shown that the relationship actually exists, if you want to exploit it later.<\/p>\n<p>Stasis (1):<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%; height: 99px;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"height: 41px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 17.9733%; height: 41px;\">Is there<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 29.8133%; height: 41px;\">a causal relationship between fact A and fact B?<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 52.2133%; height: 41px;\">Are pesticides risk factors for certain cancers?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 10px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 17.9733%; height: 10px;\"><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 29.8133%; height: 10px;\">an analogical relationship between fact A and fact B?<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 52.2133%; height: 10px;\">Is there an analogy between the 1929 and 2008 crises?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 24px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 17.9733%; height: 24px;\">Is such source<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 29.8133%; height: 24px;\">an authority?<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 52.2133%; height: 24px;\">Is Uncle Srooge an authority on financial investments?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 24px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 17.9733%; height: 24px;\">Is this discourse<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 29.8133%; height: 24px;\">a definition of the word <strong>W<\/strong>?<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 52.2133%; height: 24px;\">Is having an iPhone and three meals a day a satisfactory definition of democracy?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The existence of the relationship has to be proved through arguments that<strong> base, establish, construct<\/strong>, justify the answers given to these question.<\/p>\n<p>The arguments and counter-arguments rely on the application of shared criteria methods and test for what is a proven causal link, a strong analogy, a true authority, and a substantial definition<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Second step<\/strong><\/span>, this relationship can be exploited in argumentation from causality, analogy, authority or definition.\u00a0 For example, if the answer are positive:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u2026 so, it would be wise to limit\u00a0 their use<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u2026 so, we must expect considerable political upheaval<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u2026 so, I will invest my money with them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u2026 so, why should I worry about all these elections fuss?<\/p>\n<p>It is possible to admit that there is a causal link and tha<\/p>\n<p>A radical rebuttal to these claims is to show that the underlying causal relationship\u00a0 doesnot hold true ;\u00a0 the analogy does not hold; \u00a0 the authority is a sham; the definition is ridiculous.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Constructing \/ exploiting a reality arguing to construct a relation or a property \u2014 arguing from a relation, appealing to a relation or a property Four basic relations and properties : argumentative construction and argumentative exploitation Four basic argument schemes &nbsp; Before living in a house, you must first build it.
