Afin de mieux comprendre les effets sociologiques de l\u2019enseignement des langues, cette recherche se situe \u00e0 la crois\u00e9e des travaux en didactique des langues portant sur les interactions p\u00e9dagogiques, et des travaux en sociolinguistique critique analysant les mouvements de revitalisation linguistique. Si l\u2019importance de l\u2019\u00e9ducation dans la l\u00e9gitimation d\u2019une langue est souvent donn\u00e9e comme acquise, peu d\u2019\u00e9tudes analysent la mani\u00e8re dont les pratiques p\u00e9dagogiques participent \u00e0 d\u00e9finir le statut d\u2019une langue et le sens que rev\u00eat son apprentissage. Dans cette recherche, il s\u2019est donc agi d\u2019expliquer comment les s\u00e9jours linguistiques dans les summer colleges produisent ou remettent en cause la structure sociale et spatiale du bilinguisme en Irlande. Pour se faire, j\u2019ai constitu\u00e9 un corpus de donn\u00e9es langagi\u00e8res interactionnelles (interactions en classe et entretiens), d\u2019observations participantes, de questionnaires et de documents historiques, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un travail de terrain sociolinguistique consistant en des \u00e9tudes de cas ethnographiques dans trois stages d\u2019irlandais. La th\u00e8se d\u00e9fendue est que l\u2019importance des institutions d\u2019enseignement des langues dans la revitalisation linguistique repose sur leur capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 produire des \u00ab\u00a0sociodic\u00e9es linguistiques\u00a0\u00bb, que je d\u00e9finis comme des r\u00e9cits qui justifient un certain ordre social \u00e0 partir d\u2019id\u00e9ologies linguistiques prenant corps lors de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience d\u2019apprentissage.<\/p>\n<h2>Th\u00e8mes de recherche\u00a0:<\/h2>\n<p>Revitalisation linguistique, Enseignement en immersion, Tourisme linguistique, Irlandais, Marchandisation des langues, Politiques linguistiques<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>An Immersion into \u201cAuthentic Ireland\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>A critical sociolinguistic study of the revitalisation of Irish in language-learning holiday camps (or \u201csummer colleges\u201d)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This doctoral thesis studies the revitalisation of Irish through language learning holidays in summer camps (called summer colleges) situated in officially Irish-speaking regions in the West of Ireland. In order to better understand the sociological impact of language teaching, previous work from two research traditions were mobilised: interactional linguistics applied to language teaching and critical sociolinguistics of language revitalisation movements. The importance of education for the legitimation of a language is widely acknowledged, however, few studies analyse the way pedagogical practices participate in defining the status of a language and the meaning attached to its learning. Therefore, the aim of this research is to explain how language learning holidays in summer colleges produce or question the social and spatial structure of bilingualism in Ireland. To do so, I produced a corpus of interactional data (class interactions and interviews), participant observations, questionnaires, and historical sources, through sociolinguistic fieldwork consisting of ethnographic case studies in three summer colleges.
